Show Of Force – American Stryker Carriers “Marching” Through Romania
US Cavalrymen from the 2nd Cavalry regiment will take part in a 400 km “cavalry march” in Romania. The NATO allies would be accompanied by some units of the Romanian Army.
The march is to begin at the Romanian Mihail Kogalniceanu airbase, while the final point of the route is set at the Cincu firing range. Besides the 2nd Squadron of the 2nd Cavalry regiment, more US Forces are going to be deployed, including troops from the 18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, the 4-3 Assault Helicopter Battalion and the 709th Military Police battalion.
The march is to be coordinated and logistically secured by the Romanians, which would constitute an opportunity to train the cooperation of the elements of both the armies that are involved in the operations. The main aim of the march is to conduct a NATO “show of force” at the eastern flank of the alliance.
During the march the column would be stopped in the cities through which the US forces are going to go through. The US soldiers would present their equipment and would be involved in sport activities together with the Romanian children.
Similar marches were already conducted in the Mid-Eastern European states, including Poland, the Czech Republic and Estonia. The US cavalrymen from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment also took part in an exercise of comparable type in Romania, in March this year.
