Redzikowo Missile Defence Complex In Poland: Agreements Related to the Construction Works Have Been Signed

US Department of Defence awarded a contract covering the construction works related to the US Missile Defence base in Redzikowo, where an element of the Aegis Ashore system is going to be stationed.

The United States Department of Defence awarded an 182 million dollars contract, in line with which AMEC Programs Inc. company is going to create the infrastructure that is going to accommodate the Aegis Ashore missile defence system in Poland. The complex is to reach its readiness by 2018.

Within the framework of the 3rd phase of the European Phased Adaptive Approach programme, the Redzikowo Air Base near Slupsk is going to become a home for the land component of the US missile defence system. The base is going to be equipped with the Standard SM-3 Block II A and Block I B missiles. The armament will be complemented with the AN/SPY-1 radar and elements of the fire control system. According to the terms and conditions of the concluded contract, the works are to be finalized by 9th April 2018. The corresponding tender involved four bidders.

This is the first agreement that has been signed with regards to the investment. More contracts are expected, and the general value is estimated as ca. USD 300 million. The second agreement is going to have a value between 25 and 100 million dollars, as estimated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers supervising the works. The contract in question is going to cover the construction works regarding the accommodation premises for a group of 300 US Navy members, serving at the facility.
