PGZ and Northrop Grumman Expand Their Mutual Cooperation: Radars and Electronics
Polish Armaments Group has signed a letter of intent with the American Northrop Grumman company. The memorandum assumes that possible areas for collaboration could be expected to be defined, including the AESA GaN radars, solutions for the Navy or computer systems, including C4IS solutions.
The memorandum that has been concluded forms a base for definition of possible areas of industrial cooperation between PGZ and Northrop Grumman. Both entities are expected to verify the options of collaborating in the field of ground based AESA GaN fire control radars, avionics for fixed and rotary wing platforms, electronics for ground platforms, solutions for the navy, as well as C4IS systems.
The agreement in question forms a prospect of a long-term collaboration in front of the Polish defence industry. I am convinced that the letter of intent signed will contribute to tighter relations in our partnership, which would translate into a long-term cooperation between PGZ and Northrop Grumman, and which would bring a number of mutual benefits to both parties.
As it was stressed by Arkadiusz Siwko, President of the Management Board at the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A., the memorandum of understanding in question “opens a prospect of long-term collaboration for the Polish defence industry”. Tarik Reyes, Northrop Grumman’s vice president, business development for its integrated air and missile defence division (IAMD) in its Information Systems sector, noted that the signed document demonstrates the will to seek for new domains of collaboration between the companies, and entails an opportunity to deliver technologies for the Polish industry.
The document signed paves the way towards establishing a closer cooperation between the Polish Armaments Group and Northrop Grumman. The memorandum is to provide the Polish industry with access to technologies that could be used by the Polish company in the process of modernizing the Polish Army, under the supervision of the Polish MoD.
Northrop Grumman company, among other products, manufactures AESA G/ATOR radars for the USMC, and considered within the programme, the goal of which is to create the US Army medium range air defence system. The company has also designed and introduced into production the IBCS air defence management system. Back in September 2016, the Polish Ministry of Defence has sent a Letter of Request application, concerning the procurement of Patriot systems with IBCS suite. The letter of intent is the first official signal concerning the industrial cooperation expressed by the American company which has a wide offer available, when it comes to, among other areas, the solutions that could be utilized in the Wisła air defence system.
