During the MSPO event, Saab signed an agreement on cooperation with the Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze No. 2 [Military Aviation Works] facility based in Bydgoszcz. The aim of the memorandum signed by both companies is to jointly promote the modernization offer related to the Polish MiG-29 fighters.

The concluded memorandum is related to joint promotion of the offer related to modernization of the Polish MiG-29 fighters. Scope of works is going to include implementation of self-defence pods on the Polish jets. Secondly, the other aim of the memorandum is to open a door, within the scope of modernizing other systems utilized by the Polish Air Force.
Saab is the contractor who deals with the electronic warfare systems. The design of these systems raises level of the situational awareness of the pilots. It is possible through detection, localization and recognition of the radar threats, including the radars used by the anti-aircraft systems or the enemy fighters.

Information related to the systems are transferred to the pilot, making it possible for him to execute the decision making process, as he is in possession of the knowledge of the potential threats. Representatives of the Saab company stress the fact that application of the proper countermeasures makes it possible to limit the level of operational threats.

Acting as a supplier of the EW systems for the international customers, Saab fully understands the importance of establishing cooperation with the proper partner, within the scope of complementing the own company’s portfolio. Together with WZL2 we may use our knowledge to develop projects which are very beneficial for the Polish Air Force, as well as for the Polish Industry.
