Another batch of K2 main battle tanks arrived in Poland, including 5 vehicles. The delivery also included 12 K9A1 howitzers. The above means that the Polish Armed Forces will soon operate 15 K2 MBTs, and 48 K9A1 self-propelled howitzers.

As noted by Lt. Col. Krzysztof Płatek, spokesman for the Armament Agency, further deliveries of equipment from South Korea are expected to happen this year. According to the information released last year, Poland should receive 18 K2 MBTs in 2023 - 10 were delivered in 2022. In 2024 fifty-six tanks are expected to arrive, and another 96 have been scheduled to be delivered in 2025.

It is also known that further K9A1 deliveries are planned this year. By 2026, it is expected that 212 would remain in service. The howitzers would be integrated with the Polish communications and fire control systems (WB Group's Topaz and Fonet systems), domestically developed comms suite would also be integrated on the K2 MBT.

This is good news. The Polish Armed Forces are gradually receiving and commissioning modern equipment, replacing the Post-Soviet platforms, and filling in the capability gaps emerging once military aid was provided to Ukraine, defending itself from the Russian aggressor.
