Borsuk infantry fighting vehicle has successfully passed its most demanding tests. The procurement contract for a substantial number of these vehicles is expected to be signed later this year. However, the exact timing remains unclear, according to Brigadier General Artur Kuptel, head of the Armament Agency.

Defence24.pl had found out, off the record, that negotiation regarding the procurement of 159 Borsuk IFVs will begin in August 2024. This will be the first executive contract fulfilling part of the framework agreement for these vehicles from early 2023, which includes a total of 1,000 IFVs and approximately 400 specialist vehicles utilizing the Borsuk chassis.

General Kuptel did not specify when the procurement contract for the Borsuks would be signed, emphasizing that the exact date is not the most critical aspect. Let’s not rush the experts currently negotiating the contract. It’s more important that every clause in the agreement is meticulously prepared than meeting a specific deadline. I can confirm that an invitation to negotiate has been extended. We will get to the core of the matter in the coming days. The contract will be signed this year. But let’s not fixate on whether it will be during MSPO or any other specific date. What matters most is the comfort of time and the comfort of negotiations, the general explained.

He added, I am pleased that Borsuk has passed the most rigorous tests and evaluations. They concluded successfully, though certain recommendations need to be implemented. The key information is that these vehicles will be acquired in significant numbers. Recently, we signed a framework agreement for 1,000 Borsuk units and nearly 400 specialist versions. We will successively implement this framework agreement with subsequent contracts.
