The responsibilities of the General Commander of the Armed Forces, following a decision made by Antoni Macierewicz, are to be taken over by 1st Deputy, General Leszek Surawski.

General Różański was the commander of the Organizational Group at the Polish General Command of the Armed Forces, creating proper conditions for the Command structures to be established, starting from January 2014. Beginning from early months of the year 2014, Różanski was working as the counselor of coordinator of the Secretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Defence, dealing with the Polish Army modernization process. Following the decision made by the President of Poland on 9th June 2015, he was appointed to take the position of the General Commander of the Armed Forces. On 1st August 2015, he received a rank of Lt. Gen.

Różański was promoted to the Brig. Gen. rank by President Aleksander Kwaśniewski in August 2005. The “second” star was received by the General from President Lech Kaczynski, in August 2009.
