Ulf Kristersson, the Swedish PM, announced that the 10th military aid package sent to Ukraine by Sweden would include ca. 50 CV9040 infantry fighting vehicles, and an undisclosed number of 155 mm Archer wheeled self-propelled howitzers. The rumors mention 12 examples.

Apart from the IFVs, and the self-propelled artillery pieces, Sweden is sending another lot of NLAW systems to Ukraine, along with small arms, mine-defusing tools, and probably a munitions bundle.

When it comes to the CV9040, the transfer may involve the CV9040A vehicles kept in storage or the more modern CV9040B variant. The CV9040 IFVs utilize a relatively strong 40 mm Bofors L70 cannon, firing the 40x365R mm gun. The munitions stockpile includes APFSDS rounds, HE rounds, and 3P programmable munitions. 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun has been coupled with the primary weapon. The CV9040 IFVs do not feature ATGM launchers.

CV90 would be the third Western IFV design operated by Ukraine, following the US-made M2A2 ODS Bradleys (50), and German Marder 1s (40 examples).

Archer, meanwhile, is a highly automated, self-propelled artillery system based on Volvo A30D. 155 mm FH77 L52 gun is the primary armament. The remote control turret houses an autoloader system that can accommodate 21 sets of munitions, consisting of the projectile, and the propelling charges. Archer has been tailored to fire the Excalibur rounds, and similarly, as the Polish Krab system, it offers a range of up to 50 kilometers, when using these munitions.
