Czech Republic And NATO Deepen The Cooperation In The Field Of Cyber-Security
National Security Agency of the Czech Republic signed a memorandum of understanding with NATO, pertaining the cooperation of both Parties within the area of cyber-security.
The Memorandum of Understanding has been signed on 12th October 2015. The purpose of the aforementioned document is to deepen the cooperation within the area of cyber-security, between NATO and the Czech organs operating in that field. When the memorandum was being signed, Prague was represented by Dusan Navratil, Director of the Czech National Security Agency. Sorin Ducaru, assistant of the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg and President of the Board dealing with NATO Cyber-defence, signed the document on behalf of the alliance.
Jens Stoltenberg’s assistant expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Czech Republic decided to sign the memorandum so early, as one of the first NATO member states. Moreover, Ducaru also claimed that the memorandum, approved during the June meeting of the Ministers of Defence, is an important tool for NATO and its members, useful within the process of providing a proper level of Internet networks security, for the whole alliance. Dusan Navratil emphasized the value of cooperation within the area of cyber-security, embedded in the NATO framework. Navratil additionally stated that the Czech experts and researchers will be engaged in support for the allied cyber-defence initiatives and the related development works.
The Memorandum of Understanding is a part of the practical implementation of the Enhanced NATO Policy on Cyber Defence, the provisions for which have been set during the NATO summit in Wales. As a response to the threats emerging in the NATO cyberspace, a Cyber Defence Action Plan has also been accepted and approved during the Newport summit.
