Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that he thanks the Polish government for its decision on a ‘specific issue’ that will allow Ukraine to receive F-16 fighter jets faster. Zelensky spoke to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on the margins of a meeting of the European Political Community, a group of more than 40 countries supporting Ukraine, in the UK.

President Zelensky said that today he had received information about the Polish government’s decision allowing Ukraine to speed up the delivery of F-16 fighter jets, and that he had spoken to the Polish Prime Minister yesterday. He did not explain what Poland’s decision would consist of.

It was previously reported that Kyiv was to receive the first F-16s coming primarily from Denmark and the Netherlands later this summer.

It is possible that Poland’s participation is related to organising the delivery of these fighters to Ukraine or logistical issues. However, Poland is not providing Ukraine with its own aircraft of this type.
