Polish Navy's Delfin-class Unveiled?
As we reported before, Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. shiprepair yard is currently engaged in building two Delfin-class (Project 107) SIGINT/ELINT vessels.
Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. is the Polish subcontractor for Saab. The design works have been outsourced to Gdynia-based MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting Ltd. The latter entity just published a new vision of the Delfin’s appearance.
The Polish Projekt 107 Delfin (Dolphin) design is similar to the Swedish A202 Artemis reconnaissance vessel, also designed by the Gdynia-based MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting company. The Swedish Artemis vessel has a full displacement of ca. 2,300 tons. The hull is 74.6 meters long, 14 meters wide, and draught. The engine room includes 4 power generator units, 990 kW each, powering the azimuthal thrusters. The vessel also features two bow thrusters. The thrusters make the vessel maneuverable, and allow it to maintain the assigned position fairly accurately. Artemis has been fitted with a broad array of devices for intercepting radio and satellite communications, and EM radiation emitted by various sources, and these sensors are also used to designate the exact locations where the signals are emitted.
