More Polish UAVs in Ukraine
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have taken delivery of the Polish FlyEye UAVs and DJI Matrice 300 systems, as the Ukrainian Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced. This happened within the framework of the Ukrainian „Army of Drones” programme.
Many things have been said about the importance of UAVs in the ongoing war in Ukraine. Further procurement of the proven Polish FlyEye UAVs should not be a surprise then. The added value they create for artillery engagements, data retransmission, or reconnaissance is invaluable for the Ukrainian troops. They are to receive further 20 examples, within the framework of the "Army of Drones" programme.
“FlyEye is one of the best drones in this lot. It has a range of 160 kilometers, within a 50 kilometers radius, and it flies at a top speed of 120 kilometers per hour. This would allow the reconnaissance agents to infiltrate behind the enemy lines, and obtain important intel”, Mykhailo Fedorov said.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces also receive the DJI Matrice 300 platforms. Fedorov claims these are equipped with high-quality cameras, including thermal imagers, allowing for operation at any time of day or night.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation claims that more than UAH 751 million has been gathered to fund the "Army of Drones" programme, via the United24 platform. These funds would be used to procure 200 reconnaissance UAV systems for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. UAH 260 million has already been allocated to an agreement aimed at the acquisition of two control stations and 20 FlyEye UAVs, 78 Matrice multicopters, two ground control stations, and 20 Warmate loitering munition systems. It was announced that the "Army of Drones" programme would cover consistent acquisition, repairs, and maintenance of drones. Should a need arise, operational exchange and training are also expected to happen.
Defence24, working with WB Electronics, the Ukrainian Embassy in Poland, and the Warsaw Enterprise Institute, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to deliver WARMATE loitering munitions with a training campaign and maintenance.
