Lockheed Martin has condluded the contract, related to acquisition of the JASSM cruise missiles for the Polish Air Force.

The company announced that it has concluded the contract to deliver the AGM-158A JASSM missiles for the Polish Air Force. Lockheed Martin is responsible for delivering the missiles along with the related equipment, software and documentation. The company is also going to carry out the procedures related to programme management.

The US authorities also signed an agreement, falling within the framework of the Foreign Military Sales procedure. The above agreement results from the inter-governmental agreement which had been signed in December 2014. The said contract covers the Polish acquisition of 40 AGM-158A JASSM missiles, along with a MLU package for the F-16C/D Block 52 fighters. Total value of the deal is contained in an amount of USD 250 million.

The initial examples of the JASSM missiles received by the Polish Air Force are expected to reach their initial operational capability in 2017. The missile is designed in line with the stealth technology requirements.

Poland is going to become the third foreign user of the AGM-158A JASSM missiles, besides Australia and Finland. These countries use the US made missiles on the F/A-18 Hornet jets. In case of the US Air Force, JASSM missile is currently integrated with the B-1B, B-2 and B-52 bombers, and the F-16 and F-15E jet fighters.

A-variant missiles have a range of 370 kilometres. They are guided with an INS/GPS guidance system coupled with a thermal-vision optronic sensor. USAF additionally uses the AGM-158B JASSM-ER missiles, with a range of over 900 kilometres. The B variant of the JASSM missile has only been integrated with the B-1B bombers so far.
